The Law Society of Nunavut has a duty to protect the public interest, and requires the lawyers in our territory to practice law ethically and competently.
A person with questions or concerns about a lawyer's professional conduct can make a complaint to the Law Society.
The Law Society is committed to providing services in all four official languages of Nunavut. If you wish to speak to a Law Society representative or to proceed with your complaint in French, Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun, please contact the Law Society manager: manager@lawsociety.nu.ca.

The Law Society of Nunavut takes the privacy interests of Nunavummiut seriously. However, to ensure a fair process, the Law Society will share some or all of the information and documents you provide as part of your complaint with the lawyer or student-at-law who is the subject of the complaint and their legal representative, if they have one. The Law Society may also speak with any third parties who may have relevant information about the matters raised in the complaint.
If your complaint proceeds to a hearing, this hearing will generally be open to the public. You can request that the hearing into your complaint be partly or wholly private by submitting a signed written request for an in camera (private) hearing at least 14 days before hearing begins (Rules of the Law Society of Nunavut, r. 66(3)).
